Interested in becoming a Board Member ?
We are pleased that you are interested in participating in
this membership role. Board appointment
is for a term of two years. Terms run
in the calendar year from October to October.
There are several documents you will want to review and
become familiar with relating to the how the Board operates and conducts
business. These documents are posted on
the NW-AIRS web site. Go to www.nwairs.org then click on the “Board
Members” link to find the following information:
Meetings and Travel.
The Board meets quarterly; two meetings via conference call and two
face-to-face meetings are held each year.
The location of those meetings generally rotates between the Board
members. There are financial resources
available to help cover the Board travel expenses and you will find the travel
policy and reimbursement form in the Board Policies and Procedures manual on
the web site. If your sponsoring
agency/organization can help by sharing your travel expenses and participation
on the Board, that is also greatly appreciated and helps stretch the NW-AIRS
budget.
Our current activities.
We typically have a training conference every other year in one of our
membership states (Idaho, Oregon, and Washington). The goal of the training conference is to promote the Information
& Referral profession and to provide needed training. The next one is being
planned for September 2008 in Washington State. Other important roles we are involved in include the promotion of
I & R professional development, AIRS standards and the planning and
development of 2-1-1 in our tri-state area.
